During my wk in camp, i had a conversation with sum of my platoon mates about religion.

and yes. they are super surprised im from chc. alot of hoohaas there.

Anyway, they were very skeptical about why we do the things we do, and im glad i had the chance to talk to them about it and hopefully change some of their mindset.

Anyway the most impt thing that i actually wanted to mention is that they told me how i noe God is God? Does He speaks to us at all like "HELLO IM GOD."

So I told them my story near 3 yrs back, when I am too doubting whether God is there or not. I had many worries at that time, parental objection, my own struggles. It was my very first experience, i didn't know how, i didn't know wad to do. I just told God this,

"If you're God. Show me."

After awhile, it just started raining. A gentle refreshing rain.

I was happy back then.

Some might say it's coincidence and all, but that day was the day i BELIEVED in a lil thing call FAITH. Back then, im such a young believer, i even rmb it was Howard taking me den, but my faith was the strongest den. I BELIEVE so.

I just wanna tell everybody, that in times of crisis and problems, sometimes all we rly need is to ask God, and believe. I know as people gets older, they grow skeptical of things that they will dismiss off as coincidence. But aren't we a whole lot mature now den we were younger? Have we not experience God more den we did in the past? So why is it so hard to believe now? in this lil thing call faith?

Even now in army, there are many times i will lift my burden up to Him, and when i reached the camp it always somehow settled by itself. When i tink about it, His promises always holds true. We just need to open our eyes and start looking at what He has done for us. So guys, i leave you a verse that i hold firm lately in my heart.

Psalms 15:25

A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.

So come on guys, let's continue to get refreshed in this gentle rain of faith, so we will be able to refresh others in our very own way. =) be the vessel of your life.

i came across this book by Mother Teresa in the library and the 2nd chapter is on love.
loving people, is loving God. but sometimes, it's much easier to love strangers in need, than to people around us, people who don't seem to need any sort of love from us. people who make us feel that they are better off left alone. people who are unlovable. but God loves everyone of us.

in the words of Mother Teresa, "When we see God in each other, we will love each other as He loves us all. That is the fulfillment of the law, to love one another. This is all Jesus came to teach us: that God loves us, and that He wants us to love one another as He loves us."

One day i picked up a man from the gutter. His body is covered with worms. I brought him to our house, and what did this man say? He did not curse. He did not blame anyone. He just said, "I've lived like an animal in the street, but I'm going to die like an angel, loved and cared for!" It took us 3 hours to clean him. Finally, the man looked up at the sister and said, "Sister, I'm going home to God."And then he died. I've never seen such a radiant smile on a human face as I saw on that man's face. He went home to God. See what love can do! It is possible that the sister did not think about it at the moment, but she was touching the body of Christ. Jesus said so when He said, "As often as you did it for one of my least brothers, you did it for me" (Matthew 25:40 RSV). And this is where you and i fit into the plan.

Let us understand the tenderness of God's love. For He speaks in the Scripture, "Even id a mother could forget her child, I will not forget you. I have carved you on the palm of my hand" (Isaiah 49:15-16) When you feel lonely, when you feel unwanted, when you feel sick and forgotten, remember you are precious to Him. He loves you. Show that love for one another, for this is all that Jesus came to teach us.

I remember a mother of 12 children, the last of them terribly mutilated. It is impossible for me to describe the creature. I volunteered to welcome the child into our house, where there are many others in similar conditions. The woman began to cry. "For God's sake, Mother," she said, "don't tell me that. This ceature is the greatest gift of God to me and my family. All our love is focused on her. Our lives will be empty if you took her from us." Hers was a love full of understanding and tenderness. Do we have a love like that today? Do we realise that our child, our husband, our wife, our father, our mother, our sister, our brother, has a need for that understanding, the warmth of our hand?

I will never forget one day in Venezula when i went to visit a family who had given us a lamb. I went to thank them and there I found out that they had a badly crippled child. I asked the mother, "What is the child's name?" The mother gave us a most beautiful answer. "We call him Teacher of Love, because he keeps on teaching us how to love. Everything we do for him is our love for God in action."

when life is good for us, it's much easier to focus on ourselves, on God solving our problems, giving us our solutions, giving us our breakthroughs. much more difficult to carry our God's commandment to LOVE. because it requires of us to see Christ in every person that we meet. to see a need and to meet it. are we separating our spiritual walk from our lives? using God as our problem solver? granter of wishes? alot of us may think that Mother Teresa is a good person, so good that she is truly a woman of God. but we are all children of God and we are all equally commanded to love. and remember, God never commands the impossible :)

hey all.

i been looking for quite sum time n to realise that no1 been updating. lol.. i was thinking who will take the initative of updating. apparently no1.

Well, cg is gd dun u all tink? we talk abt the valleys(problems) in our life. For the benefits of those who didn't attend cg or forgotten abt the sermon. here's a quick recap.

1. Valleys r inevitable - Cannot be avoided.
2. Valleys r impartial - Valleys dun choose who to be in it.
3. Valleys r temporary - as mentioned.
4. Valleys r purposeful - It has a purpose.

So when u r in a valley/going to be in one. WAD SHLD U DO?

1. Dun be afraid! - have faith, nt fear. Even the faith of size of mustard seed can move mountains!

2. Dun be discouraged. - Focus on God, not ur circumstances! let every disappointment be a new appointment!

3. Draw yourself into God's presence. - I think tis is really important. There will be times that u fear, but just plain stubborn/lazy/depressed to go lift it up to God. A rls is veri important, and owaes rmb that impossible is definitely not in God's dictionary, for things r made possible when u lift it to the Master's hands.

4. Rely on God's protection and guidance.

Just let u guys refer to Psalms 23:4

Psalms 23:4
Even as i walked through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear NO evil.
For You are with me.
Your rod and staff they comfort me.

In this verse, David pictured us as sheeps, always lost and easily frightened. While God, our shepard. Just imagine in ur mind, God holding on to a rod, to fend off the foxes and wolves(demons, sins) while holding the staff to lead us.

Well, i just feel the cg sermon for today was realli impt to us. Many of us were crying when sis Annie was praying for us. Well, no1 is perfect in this world. We all have our shortcoming. bt we have to kip trying and learn from mistakes. It's wad u learnt in the end of the day that is most important, not wad u been thru. It applies to mani of us. I believe, if we are willing to take up a step in faith, even a faith size of a mustard seed can move mountains. Can u imagine wad more can faith do? When Jesus died on the cross for us, He conquered all the fear, so wad's keeping u?

food for tot.

hey my dear e410! i've been very very shagged from Sunday till Tues night, was away at Orientation Pre-camp.
so shagged i slept for 2 days straight! wed and thursday.
woke up only to eat and reply sms and walk around abit only~
coz for pre-camp we didn't sleep at all. and weiting without sleep is not happy.
i was very stressed and black faced i think. haha.
but tried my best to be upbeat anyway!
must must must learn to love people,
even when u don't get sleep for 48 hours and these people seem to want to get on your nerves 24/7!! haha.
everyone was stressed la. coz pre-camp is like a rehearsal for the real camp for university freshmen (i going on to year 2 le!), so as a senior i was at pre-camp to make sure the programmes run smoothly.
pressurising to be very ra-ra (aka very hyper and siao ) and get everyone into the camp mood..
esp when i have always hated orientation. not the very ON type usually.
but ok la, it was a very fun thing to be involved in planning the orientation.
made alot of new friends too :)
anywayz, since i've been back, i've been in touch with dongchao and xingyi..
do u all know them? they are our frens for svc!
they have always been joining us for svc for very long since w238 but not cg..
they are actually from china and studying in Anderson Sec.
do talk to them and get to know them if u have the chance to meet them!
one thing i realise is that it's actually very fun for me to know them!
i don't have many frens from china and my impression is that it'll be v hard for me to get to know them since my chinese not as powerful as theirs.. heh heh
but little did i remember how God created me to be.
God created me to be a chinese!! hahaha.
yup and though i was from the Raffles family from secondary school to JC,
i'm not the eat-potato, only know how to speak english kinda elitist.
i speak chinese, i learn chinese, i listen to chinese music too.
so i just step out in faith and called xingyi to chat.
it was really nice talking to her and getting to know her, instead of just remembering her as another face that i see on sundays.
i remember when i first became a regular at church,
Yvonne (u all should know her haha ) called me up every night to talk to me and fellowship.
although at first i kept wondering what she up to,
but after a while, i really grew to appreciate her efforts to make me feel at home.
i really pray that all of us will really start loving each other as sisters and brothers in the family of Christ and not be tired fellowshipping and enjoying each other's company! :)
anyway here are some photos from last week!

our cg dinner! sorry, the quality not v good due to bad lighting..

auntie glenda, this one's for you to kope home! haha

girl power!!

Sunday Svc, Jo plaiting elijah's hair! haha

alright that's all i have. but no worries, i will continue to play the photographer and capture more endearing moments of e410. everyone who has photos, upload too! ;)
